
Moreno Valley High School has broken ground on their new multi purpose building here in Angel Fire. This is an exciting time for Moreno Valley High, (ranked 41st best high school in the USA by Newsweek/Washington Post in 2008), as this is our first permanent facility. The first phase of the new campus, the Multi-purpose Facility is the most prominent architectural feature of the school and the centerpiece of its wind control strategy. Located on the western edge of the school, it acts as a prow, deflecting westerly predominant winds. It contains a gathering hall whose roof is designed to shed the wind, capture rain water and snow as well as admit abundant natural light. Also included in this first phase of construction are student lockers and commons and a kitchen.

MVHS is nationally ranked as the 41st. high school in America by the 2008 Newsweek/Washington Post Challenge Index.
MVHS Five Year Average ACT scores are higher in every reporting category for the reporting period, than the state’s scores in the same categories.
MVHS Five Year Average ACT scores indicate eighty percent of our students scored college ready for college level English Composition and Social Science. (State college readiness percentages for the same period, 60% for English Composition and 48% for Social Science.)
MVHS students made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under No Child Left Behind in every category, for the past three years.
Nine-nine percent of MVHS seniors have passed all six content areas on the NMHSCE.
Ninety-three percent of MVHS juniors have pass all six content areas of the NMHSCE.
MVHS graduation rate was 100% in 2004 and 2005, 99% in 2006 and 100% in 2007 and 2008
Of the 18 graduates in 2008, 17 went on to higher education.
An MVHS graduate was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Several have received recognition for outstand scores on the Advanced Placement Program tests (AP Programs.) In 2007 one student was recognized as a “Scholar of Distinction”, one as a “Scholar with Honor” and four qualified for the AP Scholar Award.
MVHS seniors have gone on to pursue advanced degrees at some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in American and abroad. Some colleges and universities that MVHS graduates have gone on to attend: Middlebury College in Vermont, University of Oregon, Texas Christian University, Virginia Military Institute, Brigham Young University, Universitiet College Utrecht in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and a World College campus in Florence, Italy.
