Last night at around two in the morning our neighborhood bear made his regular appearance. He regularly shows up and empties a garbage can that we keep our gardening tools in, there is no food in it unless he wants to eat Miracle Grow. The reason I am bringing this up is because I know someone in the neighboorhood is probably feeding him thinking he is cute.
The reality is this 350 pound beast could be very dangerous. I want to remind everyone here in Angel Fire and surrounding areas to please not feed the bears. Lately there has been a rash of burglaries by bears, and one bear even took a garbage bag out of a residents hands. My concern is someone is going to get hurt, it has happened many times before. Therefore do not feed the bears, keep all garbage and grills in a secure place, and always latch the dumpster lids. If we all do this the bears will move on back to the forest where they belong.
